کافه در برخی از کشورها جایی برای معاشرت و گفتگوی مردم است. برخی کافه و کافی شاپ را معادل هم می‌دانند؛ و کافی‌شاپ را محل عمومی آمریکایی می‌دانند که در آن معمولاً فقط قهوه عرضه می‌شود.
