Overview
The Golden Luxury Restaurant project is a rooftop restaurant development located on Valiasr Street, in the area above Parkway, Tehran. Designed by Farid + Arjmand Architects, the project was conceived to expand the hospitality capacity of the existing restaurant through the addition of a new rooftop dining space.
The main objective was to create a restaurant environment that would not only meet the functional requirements of the project, but also become a distinctive and memorable element within the urban skyline.
About the Golden Luxury Restaurant Project
The client required a new rooftop extension for the restaurant, including both an enclosed dining hall and an open-air seating area. In addition to its internal functionality, the project also needed to be visually recognizable from Valiasr Street, allowing the building to attract attention from the urban context around it.
For this reason, the design process went beyond basic spatial planning and also focused on how the building would appear within the city landscape. The architectural volume was shaped to give the project a strong visual identity that could be perceived from the street and contribute to the restaurant’s overall presence in the city.
Rooftop Restaurant Design
Designing a restaurant on top of an existing building comes with a specific set of challenges. Along with functional considerations, such projects must respond to access, indoor-outdoor relationships, views, climate conditions, and the building’s role within the urban fabric.
For the Golden Luxury Restaurant, the design sought to create a meaningful connection between the enclosed dining hall and the open rooftop area, allowing guests to use the full range of the project’s spaces under different weather and social conditions. This approach improves both the spatial quality and the operational flexibility of the restaurant.
Creating a Landmark in the Urban Landscape
One of the main goals of the project was to create a form that could function as a visual landmark for the restaurant.
Because the project is located on one of Tehran’s most important urban corridors, the client wanted the new rooftop volume to have a strong visual presence in the city. The enclosed dining hall was therefore designed to be clearly identifiable from Valiasr Street, giving the project a distinct identity and turning it into more than just a simple rooftop expansion.
Architectural Identity and Brand Presence
In many successful projects, architecture does more than organize space; it also becomes part of the brand identity.
That was also the case in the Golden Luxury Restaurant project. Careful attention was given to the placement of the architectural volume, its relationship to the surrounding city, and the experience users would have while visiting the restaurant. As a result, the architecture became a tool for strengthening the project’s brand and making it more memorable to visitors.
Relationship to Valiasr Street
Valiasr Street is one of Tehran’s most important urban axes, and any architectural project in this area inevitably becomes part of the city’s broader visual context.
For this reason, the design sought to balance distinction with contextual harmony. The final result was intended to give the building a recognizable and unique presence without creating visual disruption, allowing it to function as both a practical hospitality space and a visible part of the restaurant’s identity.
